A 150 g matte black jar of Goldland Co. Australian Manuka Honey MGO 1780+ on dark polished stone, lit from behind with gold leaf flakes scattered across a pool of honey.

Wild-harvested · Leptospermum · Australia

The rarest gold
Australia makes.

Goldland Co. produces high-potency Manuka honey from remote Australian bushland — cold-extracted, pure, every batch independently tested.

01 — Origin

Grown where nothing else will.

Australia is home to more than eighty Leptospermum species — the same genus that makes Manuka honey what it is. Our hives sit deep in coastal heath and ridge-top scrub, where the trees flower briefly.

Each site is worked once a season. When the flow ends, the boxes come out and the bush is left alone. It is a slow way to make honey, and the reason a batch is measured in drums rather than tonnes.

02 — Potency

MGO: a number that truly counts.

MGO stands for methylglyoxal, the naturally occurring compound behind Manuka honey's antibacterial strength. It forms from dihydroxyacetone in Leptospermum nectar, and it is directly measurable in a laboratory — which is why the Australian Manuka Honey Association treats it as the benchmark for potency rather than older, less reliable assays.

  1. 100+

    Entry grade

Our foundational potency — still raw, single-origin, and lab verified on every batch.

    Available now
  2. 250+

    Daily active

A balanced daily-use grade: smooth and gently caramelised, more active than entry-level honey without the intensity of the higher grades.

  3. 500+

    Everyday active

A daily-use grade. Noticeably darker and more resinous than table honey, with a long caramel finish.

  4. 700+

    High active

Dense, almost thixotropic, with the mineral bitterness that only comes from a strong flow.

    Superior grade

A rare, concentrated potency reserved for exceptional flows and small runs.

MGO is reported in mg/kg (ppm) and represents the minimum level verified in the batch at the time of testing. Goldland Co. MGO levels are tested by laboratories approved by the Australian Manuka Honey Association, and the certificate of analysis is available on request.

04 — Craft

Four steps, no shortcuts.

  1. I

    Siting

Hives are placed by hand in wild Leptospermum stands and left to work a single flow.

  2. II

    Harvest

Frames are pulled only at optimal windows to ensure honey quality and consistency.

  3. III

    Cold extraction

Spun and settled below body temperature. Nothing is heated, thinned, or blended.

  4. IV

    Verification

Every drum is tested for MGO before it is graded, filled, and sealed under our crest.

05 — Ritual

A spoonful is the whole ceremony.

Neat

One teaspoon, straight, before food. The clearest way to taste the grade.

Warm

Stirred into water under 40 °C with lemon. Boiling water dulls it.

Finish

Over aged cheddar, labneh, or dark sourdough. Salt makes the resin sing.

Keep

Cupboard, sealed, out of sun. Crystallisation is natural — stand the jar in warm water.
